Coordination and Educational Conception – 4th Biennial of Art and Culture of Jaboticabal.
I coordinated the educational sector of the 4th Jaboticabal Arts Biennial with the purpose of expanding access and promoting meaningful experiences for diverse audiences. From the beginning, I prioritized dialogue with the Secretariat of Education, Culture, Sports and Leisure (SECEL), scheduling an in-person meeting with the Project Director, Cláudia Oliveira, to ensure the participation of public schools. Following this meeting, I formalized requests for transportation and scheduling through official correspondence. The guided tours, together with the workshops and discussion groups we organized, created a diverse program accessible to all age groups. We received very positive feedback from participants and the institutions involved.
I based the sector’s methodology on the triangular approach of Ana Mae Barbosa and Rejane Coutinho, focusing on critical, sensitive, and shared mediation. I developed two visitation routes — one starting from the past and the other from the future — aligned with the curatorship “The Future of the Past.” This choice facilitated accessibility and autonomy for the educators. I also developed a collaborative spreadsheet where artists could share information about their creative processes, further enriching the mediation content. During the training of educators, I promoted in-person meetings and carefully selected participants with attention to gender, race, and professional experience diversity, forming a plural, engaged, and critical team.
Throughout the exhibition period, the educators worked with commitment and sensitivity, both during guided tours and supporting the parallel programming. Together, we developed guiding questions and keywords that encouraged reflection and attentive listening among visitors. We had the honor of serving around 350 students from public schools as well as institutions such as SENAC and CRAS. The program included embroidery and drawing workshops, a collaborative installation with artist Taína Guedes, and discussion circles on art, memory, and diversity, which activated the space in a horizontal and participatory manner. I coordinated this sector with attentiveness, care, and strategy, believing in the power of art as a tool for transformation and belonging.
