Marcos Amaro Foundation - FAMA Museum

FAMA – Fundação de Arte e Memória de Itu

At the beginning of 2025, I carried out an in-person stage of the Museological and Educational Enhancement Project in Museums, supported by the Paulo Gustavo Law of the State of São Paulo, at FAMA – Fundação de Arte e Memória de Itu. On an intensive Saturday of activities, January 25, I led a formative workshop in cultural mediation, combining theory and practice with a focus on sensitive methodologies, active listening, and accessible, transformative aesthetic experiences.

FAMA’s structure—with its variety of exhibition spaces and commitment to contemporary art—provided an ideal setting for a training program integrated with public visitation. We created experimental educational routes, and the exchange with the team and participants was marked by openness to dialogue and a shared desire to enhance ongoing practices. The training was guided by questions about mediation as a space of encounter between art, the public, and territory.

Through attentive listening to local contexts, the institution’s team, and the participants’ experiences, I developed content that was also incorporated into the cultural mediation guidebook produced as part of the project’s public return. In this process, FAMA became a key partner in rethinking museums as spaces of memory and experimentation, strengthening initiatives that recognize the interior of São Paulo as a site of museological potential.
